1.2. New interface FAQ

This article covers frequently asked questions about the new interface for Kurzweil 3000.

What is the new interface?

The new interface has an updated look and feel for Kurzweil 3000 that includes a simple, easy to use approach.

As of 7/6/2017, with the K3000 v15.13 update, this will be the only interface option for Kurzweil 3000.

Where can I find more information on how to use the new interface?

First, there is an upcoming webinar on 6/21/17, "Guide to K3000" which you can sign-up for here.

We have also developed how-to resources and training options to help. Start with the Getting Started Guide (here’s a guide for students). Then watch some of the many how-to videos in the Kurzweil Academy; popular videos include Audio Options, Bubble Notes, and Graphic Organizers.

I don't see the new interface, how do I get access to it?

The new interface is available starting with v14 Windows Web License, and all v15 editions of the product. Please make sure to update to version 14.20 or higher in order to access the new interface. Visit our updates page to obtain the latest updates to the product. If you are using an older version and are interested in the new interface, please contact sales for upgrade opportunities.

How do I change between the new and classic interface?

Note: This feature is ONLY available in the Web License edition v14.20 to v15.12. This is not available in v15.13 and higher as the classic user interface has been discontinued.

For versions that apply (see the note above):

On the new Start Page, there is an option to change back to the classic interface in the bottom right-hand corner; it’s shown as "Back to the classic Kurzweil 3000 interface". If you would then like to change back to the new interface, you may do so by clicking "Back to the new Interface" which is located to the right of the Help menu in the classic interface.

Will a subscription option to only enable the classic interface still be available for Web License users?

With the July update, this will no longer be an option as support for the classic interface will be discontinued.
